It has been a great shock to learn this past Monday (June 26, 2017)  that Geri Allen who had just celebrated her 60th birthday and visited Vienna on her tour last month was very ill.

She died  in a hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on June 27, 2017.

With Geri Allen Jazz lost a great individual voice and dedicated educator.

I had the privilege to record her first four albums as a leader for Minor Music in the eighties and later several projects where she performed as guest pianist.

Right now I can only offer my best to her family and listen to her music and please do so,too.
